Project:

Kylie Frey Branding and Release Campaign

Role:

Creative Lead

Responsible for Conceptual Art Direction, Photo Art Direction, Branding and Identity Development, Album Cover Design, Photo Editing, and Retouching

Brief:

As a new artist, the release of Kylie Frey’s first release, “Rodeo Queen,” was to make an important first impression for the industry as well for new listeners to take notice. Right in the middle of the pandemic, Kylie and her team approached me to develop a strong brand and visual identity that could create a framework for the upcoming release and all that followed; including art directing the shoot remotely.

Process:

Kylie is, quite literally, a rodeo queen with a classic voice that harkened back to the era of the classic female country and rock icons of the 70s. I wanted this project to be timeless by transporting Kylie’s entire visual identity out of present and into a new space that straddled the familiarity of the past with the curiosity of the future. Due to the ongoing pandemic, I art directed the shoot and completed the entire project virtually. I worked hand in hand with Kylie’s team each step of the way from concept to delivery.

Photography: Joseph Llanes

Result:

For this project I was responsible for virtual art direction for the photoshoot, branding development and design (including new logo and branding guidelines), EP cover design, single design, web design consultation, and the selection, retouch, and edit of marketing and PR imagery.
